The more positive things a spouse can find in a partner, and the more he or she can recognize the other's strivings and accomplishments, the stronger the foundation of the relationship becomes.
Thanking a partner demonstrates that a spouse finds him or her worthwhile. All people need to feel is that their spouses find something to appreciate in them. Relationships grow from each person's good feelings about themselves and their spouses, not from a sense of being taken for granted or feeling worthless.
